Memorial Graveside Services for Jerry Starks, age 67, of Sioux City, Iowa formerly of Wayne, will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. There will be no visitation. He passed away Friday, June 8th, in Sioux City, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Starks family for later designation. Arrangements with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
Jerry Kenneth Starks, was born to Alice Irene and Gordon Kenneth Starks on January 20, 1951, in Laurel, Nebraska. He attended Laurel High School. Jerry worked with his father and brothers at Starks Electric and Small Engines in Wayne, Nebraska. Jerry also spent many years at Tyson in Sioux City. He was a proud father, brother, uncle and grandfather. He could be found enjoying hunting, fishing, fixing small motors, playing cards, gardening, cooking and canning and bragging about his grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by his daughters, Carrie (Martin) Wortham of Jay, Oklahoma, Amy (Mike) Kurtz of Nashville, Illinois; eleven grandchildren, Aaron Bstandig, Lex Pinneke, Tiffany Pinneke, Kristina Pinneke, Dustin Pinneke, Alec Kurtz, Madison Kurtz, Lydia Kurtz, Gabriel Kurtz, Emma Kurtz and Penelope Kurtz; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack (Trudy Marquart) Starks of Concord; two sisters, Jane Lubberstedt of Denison and June Resso of Sioux City; 8 nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Gordon Starks; brothers Jule Starks and Johnny Starks, and brother-in-law Bill Lubberstedt.
