Jeannia Jo Bressler was born August 8, 1943, in Shenandoah, IA to Raleigh and Mary Jo (Catterson) Hebert and raised in Bassett and Ainsworth, NE. She graduated from Nebraska Western School of Practical Nursing School (Scottsbluff, NE) with her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree and from Bellevue University with her Bachelor’s Degree in Management. Jeannia worked as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator for over 20 years in Ainsworth and Emerson.  Jeannia married Rod Bressler on March 5, 1992. The two started First Step, Inc to provide housing and a day rehabilitation site for consumers with severe and persist mental illness. From there, R Way was created a non-profit corporation involving Kirkwood House, The Job Site, and The Community Mental Health and Wellness Clinic. Throughout it’s almost 30 years in operation R Way and First Step Inc. made a difference in a countless number of lives. Jeannia and Rod moved to Winside two years ago from a farm house just south of Laurel. She has always enjoyed reading Alfred Hitchcock and Ellery Queen, Brule, being outside, gardening, and getting her hands in the dirt. Most recently she enjoyed social media and connecting with others via Facebook. Jeannia was passionate and cared dearly for her family. She always enjoyed when they would be able to host family gathering and would look on with joy as her great-grand- children played.

Jeannia is survived by her husband, Rod Bressler of Winside; daughter, Michelle Carlson of Winside; granddaughter, Donya (Matt) Topp of Winside and Jade Bottger of Lincoln; grandsons, Brock Carlson of Winside and Justin (Lauren) Tullberg of West Point.; great-grandchildren, Tayven, Braelynn, and Gunnar.

Jeannia was preceded in death by her parents, Raleigh, Mary Jo, and step-father, Wallace Curtis; and son, Gary Bottger in 2017.

Jeannia’s family appreciates your thoughts and kindness and invites you to lunch in the church fellowship hall.
