Memorial Services for Janice Morris, age 87, of the Carroll and Winside communities, will be held at United Methodist Church in Winside on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.  Memorial Visitation will be at United Methodist Church in Winside on Monday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with family present.  Interment will be at a later date at Bethany Cemetery in rural Carroll.  She passed away on Thursday at Heritage of Bel Air in Norfolk.  Janice’s family requests memorials be made to the United Methodist Church in Winside.  Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

Janice Dorine Morris was born November 13, 1931, on a farm near Laurel to Ben and Laura (Dirks) Rath. She grew up there and loved spending time with her cousins, Zella and Betty. She attended School at District #31 in Cedar County and graduated from Laurel High School.  Janice married Erwin Morris January 8, 1950, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Coleridge. The couple lived and farmed near Carroll where they raised their family.  They moved to Winside in 1998, where the spent their retirement years.  Janice was a former member of Bethany Presbyterian Church rural Carroll, Ladies Auxiliary, Sunday School Teacher, Presbyterian Women, and Missions.  She was a present member of the Methodist Church in Winside.  Janice’s hobbies were scrapbooking, puzzles, doll collecting, gardening, sewing, cooking and canning.  Her first loves were her Lord and family.  Janice lived her last years at Heritage of Bel Air where she truly enjoyed her time.

Janice is survived by her children, Glenda (Pat) McDonald of Carroll, Diane (Mark) Frans of Omaha, Nancy (Scott) Deck of Hoskins, and Edward (Corinne) Morris of Carroll; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Judy Rath of Omaha; nieces and nephews.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Erwin in 2010; sisters, Joyce (Clifford) Jones and Frances (Wayne) Conrad; brothers, Gerald (Lucille) Rath and Eugene Rath.
