Funeral Services for Dottie Wacker, age 90, of Wayne, will be held at United Methodist Church in Winside on Saturday, April 21st, at 10:30 a.m.  Visitation will be at Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne on Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with family present.  Interment will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Winside.  She passed away on Thursday, April 12th, at her home at Brookdale Wayne.  Memorials may be directed to the Winside High School Scholarship Fund.  Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

Dottie Jean Wacker was born May 13, 1927, near Laurel to Oakley and Elsie (Zechins) Reed. She attended rural schools in Cedar and Wayne counties and graduated from Winside High School in 1944. She attended Wayne State College that summer then taught four years in rural schools in Wayne County.  Dottie married Donald Wacker at her parent’s home near Winside April 4, 1948.  They farmed four years until moving into Winside where they owned and operated the International Harvester Implement Store.  Later they owned and operated the International Harvester Implement store in Wayne.  Dottie was the bookkeeper at both stores.  In 1996, they built a home and moved to Wayne where Dottie was active in the church, country club and doing Meals on Wheels.  She enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing cards. Dottie became a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wayne.  She was a past member of the Ladies Aid in Winside for 43 years.

Dottie is survived by her children, Reed (Melissa) Wacker of Askov, MN, Diane (Dennis) Lowe of Willow River, MN, and Jerry Wacker of Kildeer, ND; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Jason (Ollie) Reed of Norman, OK; two sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald in 2001; son, Robert; grandson, Michael; and brother, Gene Reed.
