Wynot Wins Lewis & Clark Conference Volleyball Title, LCC Places Third

LAUREL – The top four seeds advanced to the final day of the Lewis & Clark Conference Volleyball Tournament where two matches were held.

From Laurel-Concord-Coleridge high school #3 Winside took on #4 LCC in the best two-of-three consolation match while #1 Wynot battled with #2 Ponca in the best three-of-five championship match Tuesday.

During the third-place match, LCC won in three sets over Winside (25-13, 23-25, 25-15). The Bears improved to 15-12 while Winside is now 21-6.

Andi Bargstadt paced Winside with 10 kills and nine digs followed by Hope Cummins with eight kills to go along with four solo blocks and four digs. Brooklyn Behmer added 14 set assists and seven digs while McKenna Russell tallied nine set assist and four digs. Kati Topp posted a team-high 11 digs to go along with three kills, three solo blocks and three service aces.

From the conference championship match, Wynot swept Ponca (25-17, 28-26, 25-23). Wynot improves to 21-3 while handing Ponca two of their now five losses at 23-5.

Josie Reid posted a team-high 17 kills to go along with eight digs followed by Kaci Day with seven kills and four digs. Morgan Nelson recorded a double-double with 33 set assist and 10 digs while other dig leaders were Alyssa Crosgrove with 15 (six kills/five blocks) and Meg Keller (13).

Subdistrict brackets will be released Thursday with tournament games being played on Monday and Tuesday, October 28-29.
