Wynot Qualifies For State Volleyball, Hartington-Newcastle Eliminated

LINCOLN – Class D1 and D2 volleyball teams took part in their District Finals Saturday.

From Class D2 in Ord, #4 Wynot swept #13 Hyannis (25-18, 25-15, 25-13). The Blue Devils are now 23-4 and will next play #5 Exeter-Milligan (23-8) at 3:30 p.m. from Lincoln Southeast on Thursday, November 8.

Other D2 matches will feature #1 Ewing (29-2) vs. #8 Falls City Sacred Heart (22-11) at 1:30 p.m.; #2 BDS (27-4) vs. #7 Cody-Kilgore (25-5) at 5:30 p.m. and #3 Mullen (27-3) vs. #6 CWC (25-7) at 7:30 p.m.

In Class D1: from Columbus High, #6 Diller-Odell won in four sets over #11 Hartington-Newcastle (25-21, 24-26, 25-14, 25-18) as from Wood River HS, #9 North Platte St. Patrick’s won in four sets over #8 Lutheran High Northeast (25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 25-15).

With the loss, Hartington-Newcastle ends their season at 24-6.

Kayden Jueden finished with 20 kills and nine digs followed by Abbe Morten with six kills and 13 digs. Belle Harms tacked on nine kills and three solo blocks. Liby Lange finished with 30 set assists as Willa Scoville tallied a team-high 19 digs.

The 2018 NSAA Volleyball Championships are scheduled for Thursday, November 8 – Saturday, November 10.

Session 1 games will be played at 1:30, 3:30, 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Class A will open Thursday from the North Court of the Pinnacle Bank Area; Class B from the South Court of the PBA; Class C1 at Lincoln North Star; Class C2 from Lincoln Southwest; Class D1 from Lincoln East and Class D2 at Lincoln Southeast.
