WSC Women’s Soccer Suffers Sunday Afternoon Loss

ST. PAUL, MN – Concordia-St. Paul broke a 1-1 tie at the break as Wayne State College suffered their fourth loss of the season.

From Sea Foam Stadium in St. Paul, Minnesota on Sunday, the Wildcat women’s soccer team visited the Golden Bears.

CSP scored two more goals in the second half to win 3-1 over WSC. Concordia-St. Paul is now 1-3-1 (1-1 NSIC) while Wayne State fell to 0-4-1 (0-2 NSIC).

Haley Hoffman from Wayne State College opened scoring in the 27th minute (26:12) off an assist by Cleo Johnson. CSP then scored goals in the 39th (38:21), 55th (54:16) and 58th minutes (57:05).

Hoffman placed her only shot in the goal as Abby Sutton put a shot on goal. Payton Haliburton, Reagan Allen and Johnson all had one of two shots on goal as other shot attempts came from Morgan Rhodes, Kaelyn Reeves, Kaylee Herall and Jace Poelstra.

Goalkeeper Sidney Truman recorded seven saves but allowed three goals in 90 minutes.

CSP outshot Wayne State, 19-12 (10-5 on goal) and recorded seven corner kicks compared to four from WSC.

The Wayne State College women’s soccer team will next visit Northern State on Friday, September 16 at 6 p.m. and also play at MSU Moorhead on Sunday, September 18 at noon.
