WAYNE – Staff with the Wayne State College women’s basketball team continue to plan their Elite Camp for the month of August.
According to post on the WSC women’s basketball social media account, the 2020 Elite Camp will be led by head coach Brent Pollari who is entering his third season at WSC along with assistant coaches Leah Szabla and Dalton Smith.
Wayne State College 2020 camps are currently scheduled to proceed as planned. College officials are continually monitoring COVID-19 developments and the health and safety of campers is their primary focus. If it is determined that camps should be cancelled, a full refund will be issued to campers (minus the Ryzer card processing/convenience fees).
The basketball camp will be offered for girls entering 9-12 grade on Sunday, August 23 from 1 – 5 p.m. Cost to attend is $50 with the camp being held at Rice Auditorium on the campus of Wayne State College. Register by Friday, August 21.
The camp will feature challenging competitions, skills development, competitive drills, coached by current Wildcat players and coaching staff, games against current Wildcats and a Wildcat t-shirt will be included.

As an added safeguard, each camp will offer registration protection insurance. For an additional fee, this insurance refunds your full registration fee if the camp is held but you cannot attend or must leave early due to a covered injury or illness which includes COVID-19. A social media post was also announced that the Youth, Elite and June Team WSC volleyball camps have been cancelled. The July Team Camp is still on.
A message on the news:
“In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our Youth, Elite and June team camp. The main priority of our volleyball camp is the health, safety and well-being of our participants, student-athletes, coaches and staff. Participants in affected camps will receive an email with additional information regarding the refunding process. We are still planning to host the July 10 team camp. Please know that we are committed to hosting individual camps in the future and apologize for an-y inconvenience. Hope to see you all next summer! Go Cats!”
Cost to attend the Friday, July 10 team camp for those entering 9-12 grade is $45 per player which includes a t-shirt. This camp will allow coaches and their teams the opportunity to work together during the off-season.
