WSC Volleyball Remains #15 In Top 25 Coaches Poll

WAYNE – The Wayne State College volleyball team closed out their five-game homestand this past week and a half going 4-1.

WSC suffered a five-set defeat to #7 Concordia-St. Paul Saturday evening during homecoming and now sit 13-2 overall and 4-2 in league play with their only other loss coming to #8 Northern State on September 21.

According to a release from Wayne State Athletics, the Wildcat volleyball team remains #15 in the AVCA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll receiving 459 points in voting conducted by various DII coaches from across the country.

Cal State San Bernardino (42 first place votes) remains as the #1 team with a 14-0 record.

Other NSIC teams ranked inside the top 25 include: #4 Minnesota Duluth (one first place vote) fell back a spot at 13-1; #7 Concordia-St. Paul (11-3) remains the same; #8 Northern State (12-2) is up one spot; #9 Southwest Minnesota State (11-3) fell back a spot; #11 St. Cloud State (13-1) moved up a spot; #18 Upper Iowa (11-3) moved up four spots; #19 Winona State (12-2) moved into the top 25 and T-24th Sioux Falls (11-3) fell five spots.

#15 Wayne State College will visit Winona State University on Friday, October 11 at 6 p.m. before traveling to Fayette to battle #18 Upper Iowa at 2 p.m. Saturday.
