WSC Volleyball Drops Road NSIC Match With #2 Northern

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Wayne State College volleyball team traveled to a top ranked Division II team Friday evening.

From Aberdeen, South Dakota, #2 Northern State entertained the ‘Cats who won their previous five of six games, including 15-3 in sets.

The second-ranked team in AVCA DII volleyball swept the ‘Cats 25-22, 25-20 and 25-14. Northern State improves to 20-1 (12-1 NSIC) as WSC fell to 16-6 (8-5 NSIC).

Katie Stephens paced Wayne State College at the net with 13 kills, followed by eight kills each from Alyssa Ballenger and Tarrin Beller. Jaci Brahmer added six kills with Maddie Knobbe posting five kills. Megan Gebhardt recorded a team-high 39 set assists and seven digs to go along with two blocks as Haley Kauth tacked on a team-high 11 digs.

Northern State edged WSC in the hitting percentage .392 to .211, both teams tallied two service aces as the Wolves won the block battle (4.5-3.0).

The Wayne State College volleyball is right back in action Saturday afternoon at MSU Moorhead with first set scheduled for 2 p.m.
