WAYNE – A Lincoln East High School standout signed her national letter of intent earlier this year with the Wildcat volleyball team and will continue her education at Wayne State College in the 2021-22 school year.
According to a release from the Wayne State Athletics office, Brooke Peltz will join Jazlin De Haan from Orange City, Iowa, Gabrielle Gergen of Janesville, Iowa, Kalli Kroeker of Roca, Nebraska and Taylor Wilshire from Sioux City, Iowa as members of the 2021 Wildcat volleyball recruiting class.
Peltz is a 5-8 libero/defensive specialist who was a four-year starter at Lincoln East High School. She was a three-time Class A All-State honorable mention selection and earned All-Heartland Athletic Conference honors as a sophomore, junior and senior. Peltz closed her high school career with 830 kills (2.5 per set), 812 digs (2.4 per set) and 100 service aces. She also earned All-City honors as a sophomore and junior.
Peltz helped Lincoln East High School to four district runner-up finishes and served as a captain during her junior and senior seasons. She also excels in the classroom with Academic All-State and All-Conference honors all four years while being named a member of the National Honor Society.
The Wayne State College volleyball team was ranked 13th in the 2021 AVCA Spring Preseason Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll before moving up as high as 12th in the first week of the rankings but then dropped out of the poll in week three with the conference not playing any games. The Wildcats finished the 2019 season at 24-7 overall and fifth place in the NSIC with a 14-6 league mark, ranked 13th in the final regular season AVCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll. Wayne State’s 2020 fall season was cancelled due to COVID-19.
The original scheduled scrimmage vs. Briar Cliff on Thursday, March 18 has been canceled due to COVID-19 protocols (updated Tuesday morning). The next scheduled indoor volleyball action for the Wildcats will be Friday, March 26 when the Wildcats visit Iowa State for an exhibition contest at 4 p.m. followed by two more exhibition contests on Saturday, March 27 (4 p.m.) and Sunday, March 28 (2 p.m.) at Kansas State in Manhattan, Kansas.
