WSC Track & Field Results From Sioux City Relays

SIOUX CITY, IA – Over a two-day period, several members of the Wayne State College women’s and men’s track & field team competed in the Sioux City Relays.

From Roberts Stadium in Sioux City, Iowa, the Wildcat women recorded a trio of event wins as the Wayne State men hit an NCAA provisional mark on Friday and Saturday, April 8 – 9.

The Wayne State women were led by junior Brooklynn Chipps who started with a first place finish in the hammer throw at 188’ 10 ¼” and was second in the shot put with a mark of 45’ 1”.

Reilly Young followed with a first place finish in the discus at 141’ 7” and sophomore Megan Hansen crossed the line first in the 100-meter hurdles finals in 14.98 seconds.

WSC had four of the top five finishers in the hammer throw led by Chipps in first. McKenzie Scheil was second at 185’ 9 ¼”, Jadin Wagner fourth (164’ 10 ½”) and Kendra Paasch fifth with a throw of 157’ 11 ¾”.

In the shot put, freshman Brooke Languis placed fifth at 42’ 5 ½” with Kendra Paasch sixth at 42’ 5 ¼”.

Senior Allie Rosener finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 11:57.15.

Sarah Cotton took second in the 200-meter dash in 26.70 seconds and was fourth in the 100-meter dash finals at 13.00 seconds.

Marin Jetensky collected a sixth place finish in the 400-meter dash (1:04.59), Megan Hansen was seventh in the 100-meter dash finals (13.45) and Alison Stineman was seventh in the 800-meter run (2:27.15).

Kelsey Larsen was ninth in the 1500-meter run at 5:07.02, Emily Erickson ninth in the 200-meter dash (28.32) and Lauryn Hoffman 10th in the 200-meter dash in 28.39 seconds.

The Wildcat 4×400-meter relay team of Cotton, Lauryn Hoffman, Emily Erickson and Jetensky finished fifth with a time of 4:10.82.

 

The Wildcat men were led by graduate student Cole Christoffersen, of Lyons-Decatur Northeast HS, who placed second with a toss of 195’ 10”. The NCAA provisional mark now ranks seventh in NCAA Division II. Teammate Grant Fritsch was eighth in the hammer throw at 160’ 1 ¼” to go with an eighth place in the discus (133’ 10”).

Freshman Alex Brandt collected a fifth place finish in the high jump (6’ 2”) along with a fifth place finish in the 110-meter high hurdles finals in 15.88 seconds.

In the 800-meter run, Bryce Holcomb was fourth at 1:56.32 and Nathan Pearson fifth in 1:56.84.

Three Wildcats finished in the top 10 in the 400-meter dash with Jacob Ladage fourth (50.91), Noah Carr seventh (51.48) and Jackson McIntyre 10th at 52.19.

Brandon Mundorf took eighth in the 1500 meter run (4:05.02) and freshman Daniel Elge was ninth in the shot put with a mark of 45’ 6 ½”.

The Wayne State 4×100-meter relay team of Theo Huber, Jacob Ladage, Wyatt Nissen and Noah Carr was fifth at 43.30 seconds while the 4×400-meter quartet of Jackson McIntyre, Michael Kueny, Ladage and Carr took sixth in 3:29.85.

The Wayne State College women’s and men’s outdoor track & field team will next compete in the UNK Invite on Friday, April 15 from Kearney.
