WSC Track & Field Results From In-State Meet

SEWARD – As the Wayne State College women’s and men’s indoor track & field team prepares for their third trip to Brookings, South Dakota, WSC recently competed in-state last week.

According to a release from the Wayne State Athletics office, the team took part in the Concordia Invitational in Seward on Friday, February 14.

Mckenzie Scheil, Hanna Lazure and Jade Rickard all recorded second place finishes for the Wayne State College women.

Scheil placed second in the weight throw (61’ 4 ¾”) and was fifth in the shot put (44’’ 0”) while Kenzie Sullivan took fourth in the shot put (44’ 6”) and 11th in the weight throw (53’ 1 ¾”).

Hanna Lazure and Ali Dykman each cleared 5’ 1” and tied for second in the high jump while Rickard finished second in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:50.60.

Allie Rosener placed third in the 3,000-meter run at 10:51.96 with Andrea Torres right behind in fourth at 11:04.34.

Sophomore Jordyn Pester recorded a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash (59.57) and was seventh in the 200-meter dash in 26.78 seconds.

Other top finishers for the Wildcats included Kim Johnson fifth in the 1,000-meter run (3:11.44), Mikayla Marvin sixth in the pole vault clearing 11’ 2 ½”, Marin Jetensky came in seventh in the 600-meter run at 1:41.76 and Riana Noelle was 10th in the triple jump at 34’ 1 ¼”.

The Wildcat 4 x 400-meter relay team of Jetensky, Sophie Noecker, Johnson and Brianna Crouch came in fifth place in a time of 44:21.34.

 

Cade Kalkowski posted an NCAA provisional mark with a first place mark of 66’ 7” to highlight the Wildcat men.

Kalkowski’s mark was a season-best and remains the fifth-best throw in NCAA Division II this season. Teammate Dylan Kaup came in third in the event with a toss of 63’ 1 ½”.

In the 600-meter run, Bryce Holcomb placed fourth at 1:24.13 with Nathan Pearson fifth at 1:24.71.

Will McGonigal took fifth place in the 3,000-meter run (9:20.06), Bailey Peckham was fifth in the 5,000-meter run (16:03.46) and Dylan Kessler placed sixth in the 5,000-meter run at 16:16.29.

Sophomore Mikhail Sands came in fifth place in the long jump with a leap of 22’ 5 ¾” and Aaron English placed eighth in the high jump clearing 6’ 1 ¼”.

Preston Davis placed 10th in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.77 seconds.

The Wildcat 4 x 400-meter relay team of Preston Davis, Holcomb, Michael Kueny and Pearson came in fifth place with a time of 3:30.97.

The Wayne State women’s and men’s indoor track & field team will compete again Friday at the South Dakota State Last Chance Invite in Brookings, South Dakota. This will be the third trip of the season to Brookings.
