WSC Friday Doubleheader With Northern State To Air On KCTY, Saturday Doubleheader With MSU Moorhead Now Canceled Due To COVID-19 Protocols With Dragon Program

WAYNE – After last playing at home on December 11, the Wayne State College men’s and women’s basketball teams will return the confines of Rice Auditorium tonight.

Over the next four weekends, WSC will play cross division opponents from the North Division starting with Northern State on Friday, January 7. The Saturday, January 8 doubleheader with MSU Moorhead has now been canceled. A report that the women’s game was called off was released on Wednesday (Jan. 5) while the men’s game just got called off today (Jan. 7).

Friday’s game schedule will begin with the men’s contest at 5:30 p.m. followed by the women’s game at 7:30 p.m. against Northern State.

Saturday’s doubleheader, again has been canceled with MSU Moorhead due to COVID-19 Protocols with the Moorhead women and men. These games are being classified as a no-contest and will not be made up per NCAA and NSIC policies.

 

The Wayne State men are 7-6 overall and 4-3 in the NSIC South (3rd place) while the Wolves are 10-6 and 4-4 (T-3rd) in the NSIC North. Last season, Northern State beat WSC twice in Wayne – 66-62 and 64-51.

For the Wildcat women, WSC is 7-5 and 4-4 in the NSIC South (T-4th) entering this weekend’s action while NSU is 6-7 and 3-5 (7th North) in league play.  Last season, WSC and NSU split a pair of games in Aberdeen (L 77-53, W 81-73).

Friday’s Wildcat broadcasts will be carried on The City ‘KCTY’ 98.9/1590 and waynedailynews.com. Pregame show coverage of Friday’s doubleheader will begin at 5 p.m.
