Winside Wrestlers Sweep Quadrangular Opponents

WINSIDE – After hosting a home dual during their parent’s night, the Winside wrestling program was back in action Thursday during a quadrangular.

From Winside Public Schools, the Wildcats hosted Quad County Northeast (Randolph/LCC), Pender and Stanton.

The host Winside picked up three straight wins over Pender (47-30), Quad County Northeast (42-30) and Stanton (39-9).

Quad County defeated Pender (42-30) and Stanton (30-24) while Pender defeated Stanton (36-24).

During the win over Pender, contested match wins from Winside came from Maddox Magwire (138) over Mason Bodlak by tech-fall (17-2, 4:15); Tyler Carlson (160) over Quinton Heineman by fall (1:59); Mason Topp (182) over Jacob Bruns by fall (0:58) and Cooper Behmer (120) over Matthew Ferris by fall (1:40).

From the victory against Quad County NE, contested match wins came from Gabe Escalante (152) over Sutton Ehlers by fall (3:02); Mason Topp (182) over Ajay Gubbels by fall (1:33); Jacoby Mann (126) over Dominic Wilcox by fall (0:43) and Maddox Magwire (138) over Gabe Wortman by fall (0:43).

In the dual with Stanton, Winside contested wins came from Art Escalante (145) over Damien Erickson by fall (2:23) and Tyler Carlson (160) over Tylor Kment by decision (9-3) while Cooper Behmer (113) won an exhibition against Corah Linnaus by fall (0:58).

The Winside wrestlers will next compete in the Wayne High Invite this Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m.

 

The Wakefield wrestling program will also be in action this weekend during the Osmond Invite on Saturday, December 19 at 10 a.m.
