CREIGHTON – Several northeast Nebraska high school wrestling teams began their 2019-20 season over the weekend.
From Creighton high school Saturday morning, the Creighton Invite was held.
Of the 11 teams in action, Plainview topped the field with 241 points followed by Battle Creek with 148 points. Elkhorn Valley took third place with 115 points, Winside placed fourth with 99.5 points and Creighton rounded out the top five teams with 98 points.
Other team scoring came from Crofton/Bloomfield (sixth – 89), Pender (seventh – 74), Norfolk JV (eighth – 66.5), Quad County Northeast (ninth – 56), Niobrara/Verdigre (10th – 36) and Osmond (11th – 24).
Winside was led by Cayden Ellis (113) and Art Escalante (132) both placed first; Jacoby Mann (113) and Mason Topp (182) took second as Gabe Escalante (138) placed third. Matthew Frederick (126) finished fourth and Maddox Magwire (138) placed sixth.
