ELKHORN VALLEY – Following an 0-4 start to the season, Winside competed in their second volleyball triangular in less than a week.
Thursday evening, the Wildcats joined Wausa at Elkhorn Valley.
Winside opened with a two-set victory over Wausa of 25-18 and 25-6 before being swept by Elkhorn Valley (25-21, 25-21) to now sit 1-5 on the season.
From win over Wausa, Andi Bargstadt paced Winside will eight kills and 11 digs. Jackie Escalante, Jaden Rastede and Hope Cummins all added five kills. Brooklyn Behmer posted 19 set assists and six digs.
During the loss to the host, Elkhorn Valley, Bargstadt again paced the Wildcats with seven kills and seven digs. Rastede and Kati Topp both added four kills while Behmer tacked on another 13 set assists and seven digs. Escalante recorded a team-high nine digs as Haylee Cummins picked up seven digs.
From the other match, Elkhorn Valley swept Wausa (25-17, 25-21) to pick up a pair of wins and improve to 4-0 as Wausa drops two matches and fall to 1-2.
Winside will next visit Wynot on Tuesday, September 4.
