RANDOLPH – After having a couple matches canceled in late September and early October over the past two weeks, the Winside volleyball team was glad to be in action over the weekend during a road triangular.
From Randolph Public Schools, the Cardinals welcomed in both Winside and Bloomfield Saturday.
Winside opened with a sweep over Randolph (25-21, 25-21) before defeating Bloomfield (25-19, 25-17). The Wildcats are now 10-7 on the season. Randolph then defeated Bloomfield in three sets (16-25, 25-23, 25-20) to improve to 11-8 while Bloomfield fell to 4-11.
During the win over Randolph, Hope Cummins recorded eight kills and three digs while Brooklyn Behmer added four kills, 10 set assists and four digs. Kati Topp tallied four kills, four digs and three solo blocks as McKenna Russel posted nine digs and nine set assists.
In the victory against Bloomfield, Topp recorded seven kills, five digs and six service aces while Cummins followed with six kills and eight digs. Russell had eight set assists and four digs as Behmer finished with seven set assists and five digs.
The Winside volleyball team was originally scheduled to be off all week until Saturday, October 10 during the Hartington-Newcastle Volleyball Tourney. But an added match was picked up for Tuesday, October 6 as Winside will visit Wakefield starting at 5:30 p.m. for C-team, JV and varsity matches.
