WINSIDE – Following a five-set defeat on the home court just about a week back, the Winside volleyball program was back in front of the home crowd Monday evening.
From Winside Public School, the Class D2 Wildcats welcomed in Class C2 Pender.
The visiting Pendragons picked up the sweep of 25-20, 25-20, 25-17. Both teams are now 6-9 on the season.
Anslee Waters recorded a team-high eight kills and 16 digs; Randee Haase added five kills as Natalie Kruger finished with 12 assists, three kills and two digs.
Aubrey Russell had three kills and three digs; Micah Stenwall tallied two kills and two digs; Sky Schultz tacked on a kill and three digs as other digs came from Hannah Gubbels (11), Jerzi Carlson (six), Skylar Spann (one) and Samantha Gubbels (one).
Russel posted two service aces as other aces came from Hannah Gubbels and Kruger. Russell had two solo blocks as Stenwall and Carlson each added a block.
The Winside volleyball team will next host Winnebago on Thursday, September 29.
