Winside Volleyball Suffers Five-Set Home Loss

WINSIDE – After starting the week with a road sweep, the Winside volleyball program returned to the home court on Tuesday.

From Winside Public Schools, the Class D2 host Wildcats welcomed in Class D1 Wausa.

After getting ahead in the opening two sets, Winside dropped the final three as the five-set match favored the visiting Lady Vikings (23-25, 17-25, 25-10, 25-15, 15-10). Wausa is now 8-2 while Winside drops to 6-8.

Anslee Waters recorded a double-double with 16 kills and 18 digs while Natalie Krueger added 18 assists, eight digs and four kills.

Aubrey Russell finished with five kills and six digs; Skye Schultz and Hannah Gubbels (nine digs) both had four kills as other digs came from Jerzi Carlson (15), Samantha Gubbels (seven), Micah Stenwall (five) and Skylar Spann (four).

Hannah Gubbels and Kruger both tallied three service aces as other aces came from Watters, Stenwall and Russell. Schultz and Russell both provided four solo blocks as Kruger tacked on two.

The Winside volleyball team will next host Pender on Monday, September 26.
