Winside Volleyball Secures Home Victory, 12 Service Aces Recorded

WINSIDE – Ahead of a weekend round robin tourney, the Winside volleyball team competed on their home court.

From Winside, the Class D2 Wildcats welcomed in Class D1 Creighton to begin the NSAA volleyball season.

The host Winside picked up the victory with scores of the match being 25-13, 25-20 and 25-19 to begin their season at 1-0. Creighton fell to 0-1.

Anslee Watters had a complete night for Winside with nine kills, eight digs, three set assists, three service aces and two blocks while Hannah Gubbels added six kills, a team-high 11 digs and three service aces.

Randee Haase added five kills, two solo blocks and a dig; Aubrey Russell had four kills, eight digs, three service aces and a solo block; Natalie Kruger posted a team-high 21 set assists to go along with three digs, two kills and a service ace; Samantha Gubbels finished with eight digs as Micha Stenwall tallied three digs, two service ace and a solo block.

The Winside volleyball team will next compete in the Randolph Quad on Saturday, August 27 while Creighton will host a triangular with Niobrara/Verdigre and Osmond on Tuesday, August 30.
