OSMOND – Following a week off from competition, the Winside volleyball team took part in a road triangular Tuesday evening.
From Osmond, the Wildcats competed with both the host Tigers and Homer.
Winside opened with a three-set loss to Homer (25-18, 22-25, 25-23) before sweeping the host Osmond (27-25, 25-23). With the split, Winside is now 5-6 on the season as they snapped a four-match losing streak.
In the match with Homer, Brooklyn Behmer recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 11 set assists while Hope Cummins added nine kills and 12 digs. McKenna Russel tallied 20 set assists as other dig leaders came from Katie Topp (three solo blocks) with 14 digs and Hannah Gubbels with 12 digs.
During the victory against Osmond, Cummins posted 10 kills and eight digs as Topp added eight kills, five solo blocks and four digs. Russell finished with eight set assists, nine digs and three kills; Jackie Escalante totaled seven digs and Behmer had five kills with 12 set assists. Escalante, Topp and Cummins all had two service aces with one coming from Behmer.
The Winside volleyball team will next host Bloomfield on Thursday, September 17.
