Winside Produces 30 Service Aces During Home Sweeps

WINSIDE – The triangular portion of the Winside volleyball schedule continued Thursday night.

Winside has hosted the past three of four triangular matches including last night’s competition.

Winside recorded home sweeps over Santee (25-9, 25-13) and Walthill (25-7, 25-5). The Wildcats are now 11-4 and will next visit Pender on Monday, September 30.

During the win over Santee, Brooklyn Behmer posted five kills, nine set assists, two aces and two digs while McKenna Russel finished with 10 set assists, four aces and two digs for Winside. Andi Bargstadt had four kills, five aces and three digs; Hope Cummins tallied four kills and two aces as Kati Topp had four kills and an ace. Ashelyn Abler tied for the team lead in digs with three.

In the sweep over Walthill, Bargstadt recorded seven kills, two solo blocks and two digs while Cummins finished with seven kills and five service aces for Winside. Behmer had five kills, eight set assists and two aces as Top tacked on five kills and a solo block. Russell picked up a team-high 15 set assists, Jackie Escalante tallied six aces and Abler was the team leader in digs with four.
