WYNOT – A Class D2 Subdistrict volleyball tournament saw five teams get narrowed down to two with the Winside Wildcats advancing.
From Wynot Public Schools, #3 Winside competed against #2 Randolph Monday night during the D2-5 Subdistrict.
#4 Walthill began the evening by defeating #5 Santee. #1 Wynot then swept Walthill (25-7, 25-7, 25-7) while #3 Winside also swept #2 Randolph (25-23, 25-20, 25-17).
Winside improves to 13-13 while Wynot is now 16-4.
Hope Cummins paced Winside at the net with 13 kills and nine digs while Brooklyn Behmer added seven kills, seven set assists, five digs and three service aces. Kati Topp tallied six kills, seven solo blocks and eight digs; Jackie Escalante had eight digs as Ashelyn Abler finished with seven digs and two aces.
Winside will next face Wynot at 7 p.m. on Tuesday during the championship match. Just last week in the LCC Tournament, Wynot toped Winside on October 20.
