WAYNE – It was right back to the Pete Chapman Baseball Complex for Wayne State College Sunday afternoon closing out a three-game series.
After winning the doubleheader Saturday over Sioux Falls, both the ‘Cats and Cougars took to the diamond.
Following a pair of scoreless innings, WSC outscored USF 3-2 in the third before adding an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth. Wayne State held on for the 4-2 victory to improve to 27-9 (18-5 NSIC) as Sioux Falls fell to 9-27 (7-16 NSIC). The Wildcats remain undefeated on the home diamond.
Andrew Hanson recorded three hits, with two being doubles as Bryce Bisenius posted a solo homerun and single. Kyle Thompson tacked on a two-run homer as CJ Neumann added a solo homerun and Travis Miller doubled.
Cade Hermann (3-0) picked up the win in seven innings allowing two earned runs off five hits while striking out five batters and walking two. Lawson Zenner recorded his second save on the season in two innings of work striking out one batter.
