Wildcats Make It Five NSIC Volleyball Teams Ranked Inside Top 25 Coaches Poll; Nine Total Receiving Votes

WAYNE – After sweeping three opponents and winning one match in four sets, the Wayne State College volleyball team has jumped into the AVCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll.

WSC (4-0) is tabbed 22nd with 152 points in voting conducted by various coaches from across the country.

The Wildcats began their season with four wins at the Missouri Southern Tournament in Joplin, Missouri. WSC will next visit the southeast part of the country during the Nova Southeastern Tournament in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The ‘Cats will open with Belmont Abby College and Grand Valley State Friday afternoon before taking on Florida Tech and Southern New Hampshire University Saturday.

The top four teams remained the same of Tampa (FL) (41 first place votes); Cal State San Bernardino (three first place votes); Western Washington and Washburn (two first place votes) all undefeated.

NSIC teams joining WSC inside the Top 25 rankings include #6 Minnesota Duluth (3-1) remained the same; #7 Northern State (4-0) moved up one spot; #10 Concordia-St. Paul (2-2) dropped five spots and #15 Southwest Minnesota State (3-1) fell six pots.

Upper Iowa (59), Sioux Falls (37), Winona State (24) and St. Cloud State (17) all received votes and were listed on two or more ballots.
