Wildcats Drop First Set, Win Next Three To Open Weekend With Road Victory

FAYETTE, IA – #3 Wayne State College began a four-match road stretch over the next two weekends during NSIC volleyball action.

From Dorman Gymnasium in Fayette, Iowa, the Wildcats visited Upper Iowa University Friday evening.

Wayne State College won the match in four sets of 23-25, 25-13, 25-16, 25-23. WSC is now 13-0 (3-0 NSIC) while the Peacocks fell to 6-4 (0-3 NSIC).

Kelsie Cada recorded a double-double with 16 kills and 14 digs to go along with four blocks, Maggie Brahmer followed with 15 kills and five blocks (one solo) as Taya Beller added 14 kills, three blocks and three digs.

Rachel Walker tallied 46 assists, four digs, a block and a kill as Jessie Brandl posted a team-high 24 digs and three service aces.

Taylor Bunjer had three kills, three digs and a block; Jordan McCormick tacked on 12 digs, two kills, a service ace and a block; Brooke Peltz had two digs and two aces as Havyn Heinz closed with six digs.

WSC outhit Upper Iowa, .274 to .185 and won the total block battle of 8-3.

#3 Wayne State College will next visit Winona State University at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
