Wildcat Wrestling Opens Season With Six Individual Champions, Dual Victory At Colorado State University

FORT COLLINS – With the ultimate goal of qualifying as many as possible for nationals, members of the Wayne State College men’s wrestling program took part in their National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) opener this past weekend.

From Fort Collins, Colorado, a total of 18 Wildcat wrestlers competed against the host Colorado State University, Utah Tech and Sacramento State University on November 5.

WSC went 33-22 on the day.

Individual champions went to Chase Eggleston (157) and Landon Templar (157) both tying at 4-0; Clayton Harris (141), Gavin Zoucha (165) and Dylan Zoucha (174) all 3-0 while Tyler Kelly (133) finished 2-0.

Runner-up results came from Mohamed Siidow (157) at 3-1 as Lane Barton (149), Isaac Voboril (184) and Dakota Spann (197) all went 2-1.

Third place medalists favored Chance Sjulin (165) at 2-1 and Sam Tisher (149) at 1-2.

Wayne State College also competed against Colorado State University in a dual posting a 48-18 victory.

Wildcat pins came from Dakota Spann, Anthony Scala, Clayton Harris, Chase Eggleston, Landon Templar and Chance Sjulin while Gavin Zoucha and Dylan Zoucha received wins by forfeit.

The Wayne State College men’s wrestling program will next compete in the Dakota Wesleyan University Invite in Mitchell, South Dakota starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 12.
