WAYNE – With the women’s soccer season in the books, two individuals have earned All-NSIC awards.
The league office in Burnsville, Minnesota announced Thursday afternoon that senior Christina Stasi and junior Sophia Ketchmark will represent Wayne State College on the 2018 NSIC All-Women’s Soccer Team.
Stasi, forward from Millard North HS, collects her third All-NSIC honor in four years after being named All-NSIC Honorable Mention as a freshman and junior. She led Wayne State in scoring this season with 10 points on four goals and two assists while playing in 17 games with 14 starts.
Stasi tied for the team lead in shots (26) and shots on goal (13) and had one game-winning goal this season. She recorded one goal with one assist in a 4-3 loss at Northern State (10/14/18) and also scored goals vs. Minnesota Duluth (9/30/18), Minnesota Crookston (10/21/18) and at Minnesota State (10/28/18). Stasi ended her Wildcat career with 12 goals and four assists and was Wayne State’s leading scorer the last two seasons.
Ketchmark, a midfielder from Omaha Gross HS, tied for second on the team in points this season with seven on two goals and three assists while recording one game-winning goal. She was fourth on the team in shots (15) and had six shots on goal.
Ketchmark had the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win at Upper Iowa (10/5/18) and also scored a goal at St. Cloud State (9/28/18). She was also credited with assists at Colorado Christian (9/3/18), vs. Southwest Minnesota State (9/16/18) and vs. Minnesota Crookston (10/21/18).
The Wayne State College women’s soccer team finished with records of 4-12-1 overall and 4-10-1 in the NSIC.
