Wildcat Women’s Soccer Drops 1-0 Home Contest

WAYNE – The Wayne State College women’s soccer team saw their three-game winning streak come to an end to open another home weekend slate of games.

From the WSC Soccer Field, WSC hosted MSU Moorhead Friday late afternoon.

After dominating the first half with 10 shots (five on goal), WSC couldn’t net a goal and the game saw a first half draw going into the halftime break. In the second half, the Dragons scored in the 76th minute (75:39) and held on for the 1-0 win. MSU Moorhead is now 4-3-4 (2-3-3) while the ‘Cats fell to 5-4-3 (5-3-1 NSIC).

Wayne State outshot MSU Moorhead (14-3) and 7-2 on goal while the Dragons held the advantage in corner kicks (6-5).

Sophie Ketchmark placed two of three shots on goal while Gabi Rosa was two-for-two with shots on goal and Rylie Wehner added one of four on goal. Megan Phillips and Madison Johnson both tallied a shot on goal, Abby Sutton attempted two shots as Carleigh Wilson finished with a shot attempt.

Rachel Grisham allowed one goal while recording two saves in 90 minutes.

The Wayne State College women’s soccer team will next host Northern State Sunday at 1 p.m.
