Wildcat Women Rugby Throttle SEC School

WAYNE – The Wayne State College women’s rugby team traveled south this past weekend and came away with a dominant road victory.

WSC improved to 5-0 with a 104-0 win over the University of Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday, October 6. The win now secures a spot in the National Small Collegiate Rugby Organization (NSCRO) round of 16 and national qualifiers in November.

According to WSC rugby coach and founder, Darrin Barner, ‘the temperatures were in the upper 80s and it was super muggy.’

Leading the Wildcat backline were Selma Taylor from Kansas City and Holly Schupbach from Milwaukee. Other key scrum players were Kennedy Jones from Columbus and Isabelle Robinson from Brisbane, Australia.

The Wayne State College women’s rugby team will be off this weekend before visiting South Dakota State University on Saturday, October 20.
