Wildcat Volleyball Wins Final Two Sets To Take Down #19 Winona State

WINONA, MN – After having a four-match win streak snapped to cap off five in a row at home last weekend, #15 Wayne State College took to the road visiting a pair of top 25 teams.

From McCown Gymnasium in Winona, Minnesota, WSC fist played at #19 Winona State University.

Wayne State and Winona State split the opening two sets (25-18 and 25-19) respectively before the Wildcats took the next two sets by the same score of (25-16, 25-16). WSC improves to 14-2 (5-2 NSIC) while the Warriors fell to 12-3 (4-3 NSIC).

Tarrin Beller paced the ‘Cats at the net with 15 kills and six blocks followed by Katie Stephens with 12 kills as Kelsie Cada recorded a double-double with 10 kills and a team-high 15 digs to go along with four blocks. Maddie Knobbe (nine kills) and Jaci Brahmer (six kills/five blocks, one solo) also accounted for scoring. Rachel Walker tallied 44 set assists and seven digs, Hope Carter had 14 digs and three service aces as Haley Kauth posted 11 digs.

WSC outhit the Warriors, .303 to .160 while also holding an edge in service aces (5-3) and blocks (11-5).

#15 Wayne State College will next visit #18 Upper Iowa Saturday at 2 p.m.
