Wildcat Volleyball Up Four Spots In Rankings To #11, Three Top-15 Matchups Scheduled At Home This Week

WAYNE – After securing a pair of wins on the road against top 25 teams, the Wayne State College volleyball team will host a trio of ranked conference opponents this week.

According to a release from Wayne State Athletics office, WSC won in four sets at then #19 Winona State and a five-set comeback at then #18 Upper Iowa over the weekend.

Wayne State College is now 15-2 overall (6-2 NSIC) and have won six of their past seven matches. The ‘Cats also moved up four spots in the AVCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll to #11 with 630 points in voting conducted by various DII coaches.

#11 WSC will next host #12 Southwest Minnesota State at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15 before welcoming in #7 Minnesota Duluth Friday at 6 p.m. and #8 St. Cloud State Saturday at 4 p.m.

Cal State San Bernardino remains the top team with their 16-0 record receiving 44 first-place votes.

Other ranked teams joining WSC include: #5 Concordia St. Paul (13-3) up two spots; #6 Northern State (14-2) down two spots; #7 Minnesota Duluth (14-2) down three spots; #8 St. Cloud State (14-2) up three spots; #12 Southwest Minnesota State (11-5) down three spots; #19 Upper Iowa (12-4) down a spot and #20 Winona State (13-3) down a spot. Sioux Falls (30) and Minnesota State-Mankato (14) are receiving votes and listed on two or more ballots.
