WAYNE – The Wayne State College Wildcat volleyball team was back at the confines for Rice Auditorium Saturday afternoon for a cross division showdown.
WSC played host to Minnesota Crookston where the ‘Cats swept the Golden Eagles (25-7, 25-10, 25-14). Wayne State College improved to 15-5 (7-4 NSIC) as UMC fell to 3-16 (1-10 NSIC).
Alyssa Ballenger paced Wayne State College with 13 kills while Tarrin Beller added 12 kills. Megan Gebhardt tallied a team-high 33 set assists as Haley Kauth tacked on 13 digs.
WSC outhit Minnesota Crookston, .355 to .012 while winning the block category (7-1) and recorded 11 service aces compared to one by UMC.
Jaci Brahmer came away with two blocks (one solo), Maria Wortman added three block-assists, with two each from Maddie Knobbe and Beller. Other block-assists came from Ballenger, Gebhardt, Katie Stephens and Allison Timmermans.
Maddie Duffy posted a team-high six service aces, with Gebhardt adding three and one each from Jacee Weber and Ballenger.
The Wayne State College volleyball team will next host Augustana on Tuesday, October 8. Plan on helping set a new attendance record during the 13th annual Blackout/Pack The House Night from Rice Auditorium with first set scheduled for 6 p.m.
WSC swept Augie in Sioux Falls, South Dakota earlier this year on September 11.
