Wildcat Volleyball Still Gaining Recognition In AVCA Ratings

WAYNE – Although being unranked since late September, the Wayne State College volleyball has posted a 6-2 record and are still receiving votes from various Division II coaches.

The most recent AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Top 25 Coaches’ Poll was announced Monday afternoon.

The Wildcats are 17-6 (9-5 NSIC) after being swept by now top-ranked Northern State and sweeping MSU Moorhead this past weekend. WSC was tabbed with 38 points.

#1 Northern State (21-1) is the new top-ranked team with 1,166 points and 39 first-place votes. Other NSIC teams are #3 Concordia-St. Paul (19-4) with 1,042 points up one spot, #7 Minnesota Duluth (19-4) with 940 points remained neutral and #16 Southwest Minnesota State (15-7) with 433 points dropped five spots.

The Wayne State College volleyball team will be in action at Rice Auditorium this weekend. WSC will host University of Mary on Friday at 6 p.m. while Minot State is in town on Saturday at 1 p.m.
