WAYNE – As the Wayne State College volleyball team prepares for four of their next five matches to be on the road, WSC recently posted a 1-1 weekend and fell three spots in the Week #8 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll.
According to a release, the Wildcat volleyball team is now #11 after sweeping Upper Iowa but suffering a five-set defeat to then #12 Winona State this past weekend.
WSC received 710 points in voting conducted by various Division II coaches from across the country.
The Wayne State College volleyball team is 17-4 overall and 10-3 in the NSIC.
MSU Denver (18-2) is still the top team in DII for volleyball receiving 44 first place votes and 1,172 points. Other NSIC teams among the Top 25 include #7 Concordia-St. Paul (18-4) fell two spots; #10 Winona State (19-3) up two spots; #13 Southwest Minnesota State (17-4) up a spot; #14 St. Cloud State (17-4) back one spot as Northern State (11) and Minnesota Duluth (six) were both receiving votes and listed on two or more ballots.
#11 WSC will host Augustana (13-8/8-5 NSIC) on Thursday, October 28 at 6 p.m. followed by a road contest against #13 Southwest Minnesota State (17-4/9-4 NSIC) at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 30.
