Wildcat Volleyball Remains Just Outside Of AVCA Rankings

WAYNE – For the third straight week, the Wayne State College volleyball team sits unranked and a few spots out of the most recent AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Top 25 Coaches’ Poll.

The poll was released Monday late afternoon where the 15-5 Wayne State College volleyball team received 42 points in voting conducted by Division II coaches. WSC recently swept both Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston this past weekend to also improve to 7-4 in NSIC play.

Michigan Tech remained #25 with 70 points, with two other teams also ahead of WSC.

NSIC ranked teams: #2 Northern State (18-1) remained the same with 1,121 points and eight first-place votes, #4 Concordia-St. Paul dropped a spot (16-4) receiving 993 points, #7 Minnesota Duluth fell two spots (16-4) earning 930 points and #11 Southwest Minnesota State dropped a spot (13-6) with 670 points.

Wayne State College will host (7-12/2-9 NSIC) Augustana Tuesday night from Rice Auditorium at 6 p.m. for the 13th annual Black Out/Pack The House match. The current single-match attendance record came in 2010 when WSC beat in-state rival, Nebraska-Kearney in five-sets in front of a crowd of 1,536 fans.
