Wildcat Volleyball Makes Quick Work Of Top 10 Opponent

WAYNE – After having to go five sets the past three matches and even a hard fought four-set match last weekend, #11 Wayne State College closed out a tough slate of home matches.

From Rice Auditorium, WSC entertained #8 St. Cloud State Saturday late afternoon.

Following a five-set loss Friday night, WSC bounced back to win in straight sets over the Huskies (25-20, 25-22, 25-19) to improve to 17-3 (8-3 NSIC) as SCSU dropped back-to-back on the weekend to now sit 15-4 (7-4 NSIC). WSC finished off a six-match slate going 4-2 against top 25 opponents.

Kelsie Cada recorded a team-high 12 kills, followed by Tarrin Beller with nine kills and five blocks while Jaci Brahmer added eight kills and six blocks. Katie Stephens also tacked on seven kills as dig leaders were Haley Kauth (17) and Maddie Duffy (15). Rachel Walker finished with 29 set assists and five blocks. Cada and Duffy both tallied two service aces.

Wayne State outhit St. Cloud State, .270 to .127 while winning the block battle (11-2) and both teams posted six service aces.

The Wayne State College volleyball team will next visit Minnesota Crookston on Friday, October 25 at 6 p.m. and play at Bemidji State on Saturday, October 26 at 1 p.m.
