Wildcat Track & Field Results From Jim Dutcher Memorial

CRETE – The Wayne State College women’s and men’s outdoor track & field team competed in the Jim Dutcher Memorial Sunday.

Hosted by Doane University, WSC traveled to Crete for the competition.

On the women’s side, it was senior Michaela Dendinger back leading the way for Division II throwers with an NCAA automatic mark in the shot put and winning two events.

On Sunday, she took over the top DII throw in the shot put with a season-best mark of 54’ 2 ½” to win the event. Dendinger also won the discus (165’ 1”) and placed second in the hammer threw (201’ 3”).

Freshman Allysa Kimpson recorded a pair of fourth place finishes in the 100-meter dash (12.72) and 200-meter dash (26.09) while sophomore Kim Lowman collected a fourth-place finish in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:05.93.

Freshman Sophie Noecker took fifth in the long jump (17’ 5 ¼”) as fellow freshman Molly McCartney crossed the line sixth in the 1,500-meter run at 5:09.37.

Other field event results saw senior Kacie O’Connor take fourth in the discus at 142’, with freshman Kenzie Sullivan seventh at 137’ 8” while freshman Jadin Wagner placed fifth in the shot put (45’ 4 1/4”) and sophomore Tia Jones 10th at 42’ 8 ¾”.

Three Wildcat men recorded runner-up finishes along with an NCAA provisional mark in a field event.

Second place finishes came from junior Clay Kramper in the 200-meter dash in 21.87 seconds, sophomore Jack Doughty in the 10,000-meter run at 34:14.82 and senior Brady Metz in the triple jump at 47’ 11”.

In field events, redshirt freshman Cade Kalkowski had an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the hammer throw placing third at 185’ 7”. Teammates sophomore Dylan Kaup placed fifth at 173’ 3”, junior Matthew Nemec sixth at 170’ 10” and freshman Cole Christoffersen 10th with a mark of 163’ 1”. Junior Jayle Hinkle was ninth in the shot put at 46’ 8” with freshman Preston Davis taking ninth in the javelin at 145’ 4”.

Other top finishes for the Wildcats included freshman Brock Hegarty taking seventh in the 1,500-meter run (4:13.89), junior Isaias Solorio was fifth in the 10,000-meter run at 34:40.93 and Metz placed 10th in the long jump at 21’ 9 ½”.

The Wayne State College women’s and men’s outdoor track & field team is next scheduled to compete on Tuesday, April 24 at the South Dakota Invite in Vermillion. WSC will also take part in the Mount Marty Twilight Meet in Yankton, South Dakota on Wednesday, April 25.
