Wildcat Track & Field Results From Concordia Invite

SEWARD – The Wayne State College women’s and men’s indoor track & field team competed in-state over the weekend with the indoor championships just under two weeks away.

The Concordia Invitational in Seward, Nebraska attracted 14 teams from the NCAA Division and NAIA levels.

For the Wildcat women, senior Joan Jelimo stole the show winning the 600-meter dash (1:38.81) and freshman Mikayla Marvin continues to break her pole vault record now at 11’ 2 ½” to place eighth.

Freshman Jordyn Pester captured second place in the 400-meter dash in 57.46 seconds and sophomore Jadin Wagner recorded a second place finish in the shot put at 47’ 6 ½”.

The Wildcat 4 x 400 meter relay quartet of Pester, Jelimo, freshman Marin Jetensky and freshman Molli Vasa came in second place with a time of 4:02.32.

Freshman Andrea Torres took third in the 3,000-meter run (19:52.22) followed by freshman Joana Sato eighth (21:27.38) and freshman Amanda Mote ninth (21:32.36).

Sophomore Molly McCartney posted a fourth place finish in the one mile run (5:38.43) with freshman Hannah Perkins ninth at 6:10.38.

Vasa took sixth in the 600-meter run (1:41.46) with Jetensky right behind in seventh (1:41.59).

Other top finishers included freshman Mckenzie Scheil fourth in the weight throw (57’ 2 ¼”), Junior Kim Lowman sixth in the 1,000-meter run (3:13.31), junior Josephine Peitz sixth in the 800-meter run at 2:33.84.

Freshman Brooklynn Chipps was seventh in the shot put (41’ 11 ½”) with junior Tia Jones eighth at the same mark.

Sophomore Hanna Lazure was eighth in the high jump (5’1”), Chipps eighth in the weight throw (52’ 8”) and freshman Nicole Heeren ninth at 52’ 4 ¾”.

 

 

The Wayne State men saw junior Dylan Kessler post the top Wildcat finish placing second in the 5,000-meter run at 15:54.61. Teammate sophomore Bailey Peckham was fourth (16:21.8).

Senior Clay Kramper claimed fourth place in the 200-meter dash in 22.67 seconds while senior Alvyns Alcenord took fifth in the 60-meter dash (7.07) and fifth in the 200 at 22.78 seconds.

Senior Robert Sullivan made the 60-meter hurdles finals and took fourth place in 8.49 seconds.

The WSC 4 x 400 meter relay team of freshman Jacob Ladage, sophomore Bryce Holcomb, junior Nathan Pearson and sophomore Preston Davis took fourth place in a time of 3:29.04.

In the 600-meter dash, sophomore Bryce Holcomb took fourth place (1:24.86), Pearson finished fifth (1:25.94) and freshman Jacob Kemper came in sixth at 1:26.62.

The one mile run saw sophomore Brock Hegarty take fifth place in a time of 4:36.08 followed by freshman Garrett Wells in ninth place at 4:50.53.

Other Wildcat finishers in running events included sophomore Nathan Hiemer sixth in the 1,000-meter run at 2:40.26, Wells seventh in the 800-meter run (2:12.75) and Ladage seventh in the 400-meter dash (51.80).

In field events, senior Matthew Nemec came in eighth place in the weight throw at 54’ 4 ½” followed by senior Richard Sweeney in ninth at 52’ 7 ½”.

Freshman Mikhail Sands was ninth in the long jump (21’ 8 ¾”) while freshman Aaron English tied for ninth in the high jump (5’ 11 ½”).

The next meet for the Wayne State College women’s and men’s indoor track & field team will be Friday, February 15. WSC will take part in the South Dakota State Tune-up Invite in Brookings, South Dakota.
