SEWARD – The Wayne State College women’s and men’s track & field team sent a handful of their throwers to an in-state meet.
The Concordia Blizzard Buster was held in Seward Saturday.
Junior Tia Jones paced the Wildcat women with a pair of second place finishes. Jones took second in the shot put at 46′ 5 ¼” and was second in the hammer throw at 166′ 5″. Sophomore Kenzie Sullivan also recorded a second place mark in the discus at 152′.
Redshirt freshman Mckenzie Scheil placed third in the hammer throw (164′ 5″) with freshman Nicole Heeren ninth at 150′ 3″ and Sullivan was seventh in the shot put at 41′ 11 1/4″.
The Wayne State College men’s team saw two champions crowned.
Sophomore Ben Allen captured a first place finish in the shot put at 51′ 11 1/4 ” while fellow sophomore Cade Kalkowski posted a winning throw of 191′ 7″ in the hammer throw.
Junior Dylan Kaup came in second place in the hammer throw (187′ 8″), junior Jayle Hinkle was fifth in the shot put (50′ 6″), senior Matt Nemec sixth in the discus (137′ 4″) and senior Richard Sweeney eighth in the hammer throw at 165′ 10″.
The Wayne State College women’s and men’s track & field team will next compete on Saturday, May 4 at the Nebraska Invite in Lincoln.
