KIRKSVILLE, MO – After splitting eight games in Florida last week during the National Training Center Spring trip, the Wayne State College softball team will hit the road again, this time for a double header and tournament.
The Wildcat softball team is 5-8 overall, 4-6 on neutral fields and will visit Truman State in Kirksville, Missouri on Wednesday, March 14 at Noon and 2 p.m.
WSC averaged 5.5 runs per game during their games in Leesburg and Clermont, Florida while allowing 7.5 runs per game as the final three contests went extra innings.
Truman State enters the mid-week double header at 6-4, coming off a pair of home wins at the Bulldog Softball Park.
The Wayne State College softball team will also compete in the Missouri Western Tournament in St. Joseph while they are in Missouri. WSC will face Northeastern State (OK) at 10 a.m. and Pittsburg State (KS) at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 16; Northwest Missouri State at Noon and Central Missouri at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 17 and Emporia State at 9 a.m. along Washburn at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 18.
After playing their first 21 games away from home, the ‘Cats will open an eight-game home stand starting next Wednesday, March 21. Nebraska-Kearney will be in town at 2/4 p.m. from the Pete Chapman Softball Complex.
