Wildcat Softball Extends Win Streak To Four

AUBURNDALE, FL – With just two games remaining in the state of Florida for the Wayne State College softball team, the ‘Cats looked to extend their winning streak.

Following a day off Tuesday, WSC took on Slippery Rock (PA) and Urbana (Ohio) Wednesday.

In the game with Slippery Rock, Wayne State scored a pair of runs in the first inning before both teams finished the game scoreless for a final of 2-0 in favor of WSC.

Kortney Buresh singled twice, tripled and scored once while Kim Vidlak added a double, RBI and run scored. Paiton Tornberg tallied a single and RBI.

Hadley Chvatal picked up the win in four innings allowing one hit while striking out three batters and walking four. Sloan Cooksey secured the save in three innings allowing two hits while striking out four batters.

 

From the contest with Urbana, WSC jumped ahead 2-1 in the third before adding another run in the fourth. The ‘Cats closed the game in the top of the seventh with two more runs to win 5-1.

Wayne State is now 9-12 and have won four straight.

Vidlak singled, doubled and drove in three runs while Kamryn Sparks (RBI) and Riley Holmberg both singled twice and scored. Clare Reinhart singled, drove in a run and scored as Molli Vasa singled and scored. Ashley Hernandez also scored.

Maddie Moser secured the win in four innings allowing an earned run off three hits while striking out three batters, walking two and hitting another. Cooksey tacked on another save in three innings allowing one hit while striking out four batters.

The Wayne State College softball team will close out their National Training Center (NTC) spring games Thursday at 9 a.m. with Pittsburgh at Johnstown followed by Malone (Ohio).
