Wildcat Men’s Track & Field Recruiting Class Grows To 15

WAYNE – Another northeast Nebraska student-athlete will join the 2020 Wayne State College men’s track & field recruiting class.

According to a release from the Wayne State Athletics Department, Gabriel Peitz of Wakefield along with Keithan Beasley from Omaha and Brandon Mundorf of Springview announced their commitments to attend WSC and compete for coach Marlon Brink in the 2020-21 academic year.

The trio brings the total number of students-athletes in the 2020 recruiting class to 15 as Mundorf and Peitz will also compete for the WSC cross country team.

Others include Steven Hornberg from Council Bluffs, Iowa, Matthew Meisenheimer of Hartington, Sam Laufer from Papillion, Cody Rogers of Wayne, John Campbell of Grand Island, Noah Carr from Allen, Cody Crosley from Crofton, Zacob Evans of Elwood, Dylan Kneifl of Pilger, Collin Kotz from Papillion, Kolton Needham from Bassett and Abe Schroeder of Ravenna.

Beasley is a sprinter/jumper from Omaha Burke High School. As a junior in 2019, he ran the lead off leg on the All Class Gold State Champion 4 x 100-meter relay team and was a Class A state qualifier in the 100-meter dash. Beasley was a four-year letter winner in track and field.

Mundorf is a distance runner from Keya Paha County High School where he was a multi-sport standout in football, basketball and track and field. In 2019 as a junior, he medaled in three events helping North Central High School to a Class D state runner up finish. Mundorf was fourth in the 1600-meter run (4:43.91) and fifth in the 3,200-meter run (10:34.08) while running a leg on the state champion 4 x 800 meter relay team. He also medaled in three events as a sophomore in 2018, placing seventh in the 3,200-meter run and eighth in the 1,600-meter run to go with another first place finish in the 4 x 800 meter relay.

Peitz is middle distance runner from Wakefield High School where he was a four-year letter winner in football, basketball and track and field. Last spring as a junior, Peitz was a Class C state qualifier in the 800-meter run and as a sophomore competed in the Class C 3200 meter relay for the Trojans. In football, Peitz was an All-District selection as a junior and senior and played on Wakefield’s Class C2 basketball state tournament team as a junior. Peitz earned Academic All-State honors in football and basketball as a junior and senior.
