WAYNE – A high scoring weekend and minimal chances to score by the opponent was put on display this past weekend for the WSC men’s club rugby program.
The 2021 National Collegiate Rugby Championships began in early November with the Rounds of 64 and 32.
From the House of Pain Rugby Complex in Wayne, the Wildcat men made quick work of Macalester (St. Paul, MN), 127-3 on Saturday while University of Nebraska-Omaha came back from 21 points down to defeat St. Scholastica (Duluth, MN).
Moving into the round of 32 on Sunday, WSC defeated UNO 86-12 as the Wayne State College men’s rugby team improved to 10-0 (A-side) on the season. The Wildcats will next face University of Chicago in St. Louis, Missouri during the West Regional from Friday, November 19 – Sunday, November 21.
WSC is two wins away from the Final Four set to be played in Houston, Texas December 10 – 12.
On the women’s side, Wayne State College is ranked #1 in the women’s small college National Collegiate Rugby Top 25 Coaches Poll and are 7-0 on the season.
The Wildcat women will be set to open the Sweet 16 this weekend (November 13 – 14) in the West Region from Iowa Falls, Iowa.
