Wildcat Indoor Track & Field Results From SDSU Preseason Open

BROOKINGS, SD – The indoor track & field season began this past weekend with a preseason meet for Wayne State College as the team will get over a month off before resuming their schedule.

From the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings, South Dakota, WSC had athletes compete in the South Dakota State Preseason Open. This meet featured numerous NCAA Division I teams along with most of the teams from the NSIC.

Kim Johnson was the top Wildcat women performer placing sixth in the one-mile (5:55). Hanna Lazure tied for seventh in the high jump (5’1”) while Jade Rickard took 10th place in the 3,000-meter run (10:59).

 

For the Wildcat men, Cade Kalkowski and Dylan Kaup both hit NCAA provisional marks in the weight throw.

Kalkowski posted a third place finish with a throw of 64′ 11 1/4″ with Kaup right behind in fifth overall at 64′ 1/2″, both NCAA provisional marks in the weight throw.

Also, Mikhail Sands placed fourth in the long jump (21’ 10 ½”).

The Wayne State College women’s and men’s indoor track & field team will next compete in the Doane Invite (Crete, NE) on Saturday, January 11.
