DULUTH, MN – Over the next month, the Wayne State College football team will have to become road warriors as they play three of their next four contests in the states of Minnesota and North Dakota.
After going 1-3 in NSIC South Division play in September, WSC began their four weeks of cross-divisional play at 1-0 thanks to a 30-7 homecoming win over Minnesota Crookston this past weekend. The Wildcats are now 2-3 on the season and will be in search for their first road win of the 2019 campaign.
Next on the schedule will be #23 Minnesota Duluth who fell 11 spots in the AFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll following a 52-7 road defeat at #3 Minnesota State-Mankato last weekend. The Bulldogs are still the only North team without a loss (4-0) but are 4-1 overall.
Kickoff between Wayne State College and Minnesota Duluth will be at 1 p.m. where the Bulldogs hold a 13-1 advance in the all-time series history. UMD last held off the ‘Cats in double overtime in Wayne 34-31 two years ago while Wayne State’s lone win in the series came at home in 2011 off a blocked punt return for a touchdown when Minnesota Duluth was rated #1.
