WAYNE – Following a week one defeat which saw the Wayne State College football team allow 17 points off of three turnovers, WSC will look to bounce back during their home opener.

From Bob Cunningham field on the campus of Wayne State College, Family Day will conclude with WSC hosting Southwest Minnesota State at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 14.

The Wildcats lost 37-20 at Winona State University last weekend despite a 20-point fourth quarter. For SMSU, they rushed for only four net yards following a 38-23 loss to #3 Minnesota State-Mankato who recorded six sacks for -37 yards.

Last season, WSC outgained the Mustangs 417 to 142 in total yards to win 23-14 in Marshall, Minnesota. The ‘Cats added eight sacks for 50 yards against the SMSU offense. Southwest Minnesota State did force Wayne State to turn the ball over five times (four fumbles). Wayne State College has won three straight and the last SMSU win came in Wayne during the 2015 season (61-3).
