MANKATO, MN – As the Wayne State College football team moves onto their second NSIC South Division opponent, it’ll mark their second ranked opponent in the past three weeks.
The Wildcat football team (receiving one vote among the DII Top 25 Coaches Poll) will travel to Mankato, Minnesota for a Saturday, October 9 1 p.m. kick off against #11 Minnesota State-Mankato.
WSC is 4-1 on the season and after upsetting then #11 Minnesota Duluth, 31-28 two weeks ago, secured a 38-21 homecoming victory over Winona State this past weekend. The Wildcats are off to their first 4-1 start since 2012 and are 1-1 this season in road games.
The Mavericks are undefeated at 3-0 from Blakeslee Stadium and recently plummeted Concordia-St. Paul, 58-10 last weekend. Minnesota State’s lone loss came at the hands of Minnesota Duluth of 30-10 in Duluth, Minnesota on September 11.
Wayne State College will be in search for their first win against Minnesota State-Mankato as the Wildcats are 0-12 against the Mavericks since MSU joined the league in 2008. The last meeting favored Minnesota State, 62-7 in Mankato, Minnesota. WSC has suffered five games by 10 or less points.
