WAYNE – Wayne State College senior Michaela Dendinger continued her indoor dominance to the next season as she was named the NSIC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week Tuesday.

Voting took place from the league office in Burnsville, Minnesota following last week’s performance of two NCAA automatic qualifying marks and an NCAA provisional mark. WSC took part in the Alex Francis Fort Hays State Classic in Hays, Kansas after originally scheduled to visit Marshall, Minnesota for the SMSU Invite.

Dating back to last year’s outdoor season, Dendinger has been named the Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week seven straight times.

The Hartington Public graduate, Coleridge native, hit NCAA qualifying marks in the shot put (51’ 11 ½”) finishing first and hammer throw (205’ 10”) taking second. She also hit an NCAA provisional mark in the hammer throw (162’ 11”) winning the event and ranks seventh in NCAA Division II. Dendinger currently has the top throws in both the shot put and discus for NCAA DII through two weeks of the outdoor season.

Due to a change in the date, the Wayne State College women’s and men’s outdoor track & field team will take part at the Concordia Invitational in Seward, Nebraska. The invite will start at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 5.
